Family Night! :)

The other night we enjoyed a fun night of fellowship with the whole family... even Steven & Amy and Tim & Charlene made it! As is Mom's custom, she spoiled us all with her excellent cooking... and I made the same dessert that I made for our church picnic last weekend: a heavenly chocolate mousse cake... this recipe is amazing! yes, I'm finally learning the ropes in the kitchen, and it's actually quite fun!

Somehow we managed to get all the kids together for a picture, before it started pouring buckets...
We had a fun time playing Bonanza! my first time ever... great game, although I must say, my brain was fried after a long day at work, and it took me the whole game to really get the hang of it! :)

all that hard work paid off, eh Charlene? :)

This kid's a brain, as you can see! :)
(playing cards, and only just over a year old :))

silly poses for the cam... :)

Decadent Chocolate Mousse Bomb:
winner of the Miss Church Picnic 2009 award :)

7 squares semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
3 eggs
2 tbsp. favourite liqueur
5 tbsp icing sugar, divided
1 c. whipping cream, whipped (use 3 of the 5 tbsp of icing sugar). Reserve some whipped cream for decorating the cake afterwards
3 squares semi-sweet chocolate, curled (for decoration)

Mix melted chocolate, 1 whole egg and 2 egg yolks until well-blended. Blend in liqueur.
Beat 2 egg whites with electric mixer on medium speed until foamy. Add 3 tbsp of icing sugar. Beat until stiff shiny peaks form. Fold whipped cream into egg whites. Carefully fold chocolate mixture into egg white mixture. Pour into plastic-wrap lined 4 cup mixing bowl. Refrigerate at least 3 hours, or until set. Unmould onto serving plate. Remove plastic wrap.

Decorating options: use chocolate curls, icing sugar, fresh berries, mint, raspberry sauce, whipped cream.
